Hope everyone had a nice weekend. I was able to put 6 of the 8 dining chairs from Ikea together and get a few slipcovers ironed and on, as well put a floor lamp together for the living room. We’ve got pillow inserts {already have the pillow covers} and accent tables being delivered this week and hopefully two new chandeliers will be installed as well. And I had my very own personal shopper at the Rose Bowl Flea Market! I scored a great print that will eventually be going up in the dining room as part of a gallery wall. All in all, it was a productive weekend! I’ll be sure to share some of the progress of the dining room and living room later this week.
But for today, I thought I’d share a few inspiration photos of woven wood shades. I’m working with a client right now on her new home and we are looking at woven wood shades for the family room. Woven wood shades are very versatile in style: coastal, global, even traditional. They add texture and interest in a functional way. You can line them for more light control and privacy, or use them without a liner to add more natural light to a space.
Here they are mounted inside the window and add color and texture to this soothing, calm space.
Here are a couple of examples of unlined woven wood shades.
Woven woods are also a great option for french doors.
Woven wood shades are also great used with stationary or workable drapery panels. They add yet another layer of design to a space. If used with unlined woven wood shades, windows can have the best of both worlds: Having the shades either all the way up or all the way down, and if down, getting light filtering through. When total light control and privacy are needed, the drapery can be used to make everything nice and cozy!
All of these image sources can be found here, on my window treatment ideas Pinterest board.
We have a couple of small windows in our house that eventually need a window treatment on them, and maybe a woven wood will show up at our house, too!
Are you a fan of woven wood shades? Do you like them on their own or layered with drapery panels?
