Ideas & Inspiration

East Coast Swing-Part II

June 17, 2011 By Living Solutions Interior Design

Morristown, NJ and Annapolis, MD

Next stop on the tour bus was Morristown, NJ. We have amazing and dear friends that live in  Manhattan and a nearby town in New Jersey, so we knew we wanted to catch up with them on our trip. We decided on Morristown, New Jersey, a cute town with a decent nightlife and a noticeable amount of churches. (Maybe to balance all that nightlife?!) We did decide you could make a killing if you opened a breakfast spot in town-they were (very) few and far between!

I realized this was really the only picture I took of the architecture, but isn’t it pretty? One of the MANY churches in Morristown!
Then off to Annapolis, Maryland to visit my hubby’s alma mater and meet up with his college roomie and his wonderful family. There are so many fun stories we share when we are together-there’s a long history between the four of us. Both couples dated in high school, stayed together during the difficult 4 years known as the Naval Academy, and got married within one week of each other. They got married at the Naval Academy Chapel and we celebrated with them and they spent their honeymoon in California to celebrate with us one week later. Funny story is that the boys COULD NOT STAND each other during what’s known as Plebe Summer, 6 weeks of indoctrination to the Naval Academy and the Navy. During “Parent’s Weekend” both families (consisting of parents, siblings, and girlfriends) were crammed into their tiny dorm room and no one introduced each other. It was SO awkward! They ended up rooming together all 4 years and becoming very close friends. This trip we also got to meet their adorable little girl who is 6 weeks older than our littlest guy.

Every time we visit Annapolis, which had been quite awhile…(The last time we were there we were  on our way out to San Diego from Annapolis and our trusty ’86 Honda Accord broke down in the drive-through car wash!), since graduation, Jason grows to enjoy it more. I have loved it from the very first visit! It’s the state capital of Maryland, home of the impressive United States Naval Academy, and a beautiful town on the Chesapeake Bay.

 Memorial Hall

The Chapel

Had to throw this one in… :)

Isn’t the architecture impressive and beautiful! Mix the architecture with all the tradition and history, and Annapolis makes for one pretty amazing place.

More to come on East Coast Swing 2011!
