I wrote awhile back here, about how we are expecting baby #3. We found out a couple of weeks ago that we are having a little girl! Of course the same week we found out, I started looking for baby bedding!
There are amazing ideas out there when it comes to nursery/children room design. I wrote a long time ago about nursery ideas, and I’ve been checking out additional ideas out there in blogland, on Pinterest and the web in general to get inspiration.
Some things that I would like the room to have:
- To be girly, but to fit the rest of our upstairs and not be too “pink!”
- A display cabinet of some kind to display a large collection of Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit music boxes I have had since my childhood that my aunt gave me. They’ve been sitting in a crate in my garage for years, and I would love to use them! I’m thinking a little girl might be a tiny bit less likely than my boys to tear them down off display shelves, but maybe I’m kidding myself!
- A place for books and reading.
- A changing table/dresser combo {which will be a piece I wrote about a couple weeks ago that we have used as a buffet for years}.
- A spot for the glider that will get moved into the nursery {although my boys might put up a fight for it-they like to be rocked and get “cuddles” in it at night!}.
The wall color in the current office, soon to be nursery, is Cape Cod Blue from Dunn Edwards.
Although we’ll be doing touch up painting, I really don’t want to re-paint the entire room, and we love the color. So with the paint color in mind, I started looking for bedding options that could work.
I love, love, love this last option. It’s hard to tell in this picture, but the medallion has some blue that looks very similar to the wall color. I love that it’s feminine, sweet, but still sophisticated and not too girly. The medallion print is on the outside of the bumper. However, the bumper, one sheet, and crib skirt {not shown here} was a fortune!!! And that didn’t even include the adorable toddler quilt. After doing quite a bit of research, I found just the bumper and one sheet at about half the price, but it was still so much!
I also looked on Etsy and found some adorable options to select your own fabric and patterns and make something unique. But nothing I loved as much as this last option. I was pretty set on biting the bullet and taking the plunge on just the bumper and sheet, but I kept looking just in case.
Saturday, the Pottery Barn Kids catalog arrived in the mail, and right off the bat, I saw this adorable room…
Oh, if only they had a crib bedding set of this!!!
And low and behold, what did I find as I turned the page?
There isn’t as much green in it as I would like, but I think I can definitely play up the green with a limey green bed skirt I currently have, gingham sheets in the same limey green, and green accents. There is also a bit of pink in there, too, so I can also add the pink in as an accent. And, I can get everything {2 sheets, the quilt, the bumper and I think even a small pillow} for less than what just the bumper and one sheet would cost of the previous 1st choice.
What do you think? Do you like my choice? Is there another option above you liked more? Any other resources I should consider for nursery decor that you love?
I would love to hear your comments :)
*{I am fully aware of the concerns using bumpers in young babies’ cribs. Using both research and experience, I have chosen to use them for my children. However, there are options of breathable bumpers that you can use if you so choose. I also noticed just recently that Land of Nod only sells bedding sets without bumpers.}*
