This project was such a fun one! I have worked with these clients for years, back in my Ethan Allen days, and have helped them with numerous projects. We started with their guest room a couple of years ago. I have already shared their guest bathroom remodel and their exercise bathroom remodel.
Today I’m sharing their kitchen/great room renovation. It’s fun working with these clients because they know what they like and they are an integral part of the design process.
This kitchen started dark and awkward. The previous owners had done some adapting to this kitchen, but it just left it, well…awkward!
The kitchen peninsula jutted too far into the living area, leaving very little space for a seating area.
{gotta love those avocado green appliances!}
This monstrosity of a fireplace, that again was awkwardly positioned, didn’t help.
For an in-between fix, the client painted the cabinets white to brighten the space up and not feel SO dated.
After living in this home for a bit of time and really paying attention to what worked and what didn’t and what they wanted and needed really helped make their kitchen remodel work for them.
And now for the AFTERS
My client loves to have family over and cook and bake together. They also have two adorable, yet big, dogs that are always around, {see that built in doggy bowl?!?!} so it was important to them to have large open spaces to move around in the kitchen. The widths between the island and range/oven wall is larger than normal, but it was important to the client and it worked out just fine!
Doorways were opened up, one was even added, and soffits were taken out to open up this space.
This picture was taken before everything was complete, but it gives a close up on the backsplash detail. I love all the finishes in this kitchen!
This post is starting to feel long! If you’re still reading, I’ll share more pictures of the furniture and fireplace next week!
