Nursery Furniture Update

August 20, 2012 By Living Solutions Interior Design

I stepped away from the blog last week hoping to get some of my own home projects completed to show you. But fitting them around some long days of LSID work didn’t prove as productive as I was hoping!!! Jill’s post about the menu board got me excited to work on the menu planning board I have had sitting in my pantry ready to be completed!

Despite not being quite as productive on the home front, I did just make some progress on the nursery! I just ordered this little number for baby girl’s nursery. {They are having a one day sale today over at Home Decorators.} In that post, I wrote about the collection of Beatrix Potter music boxes that I can’t wait to display.

I looked around for an inexpensive, yet functional piece that would work as a display cabinet and bookcase for the nursery.

My top three picks were:

display bookcase
home decorators

Possible display cabinet
home decorators

crate and barrel

Ultimately we decided on this piece…

  display bookcase

because of the overall size and the amount of shelving that could be utilized as bookshelves, display, etc. I wanted something all white {this one has a wood top} but I’m thinking that it will be nice to have something that isn’t so “matchy matchy” in the room. Plus it’s tall enough that it won’t be too noticable. This is only one of two pieces of furniture that I want to order for the nursery. The other being the expedit bookcase turned on it’s side for a a reading bench/bookcase, but I may wait on that for a bit.

Now that I know I can display the music boxes, I’m thinking of using the pages from the Complete Tales book as the art in the room.

What do you think? Good choice? Would you have gone with one of the other display/bookcase choices?!?

Now I just need to open up that big crate of music boxes and hope they all have survived the last 10 years :).

Pretty nice range of cupboards they are. The designs are just simple, yet those are looking very stylish. For nursery furnishing, it would eventually become a good option.
