A New Year!

January 2, 2012 By Living Solutions Interior Design

It’s 2012! Can you believe it?! As much as I have loved the holidays this year and all the decorations, I’m so ready for a fresh start!
2011 was a wonderful yet challenging year. It was the first year as a family of 4, the first year I wasn’t working full time, the year Jill and I started a new business, the year we moved into a new home…So many awesome moments and so many challenging ones as well as I tried to figure out the balance of my work life and my home life. Most days I think I fell a bit short.  I hit the ground running in 2011 and by Memorial Day weekend, when we found our new home, it seemed to me to be just a matter of hanging on tight! And don’t get me wrong, every single day I say my thank yous for this amazing life, for my little family, for my extended family and friends, for our health and our happiness and Jill and my’s design business that is growing with wonderful new and old clients. But as some of you know, I’m a creature of routine and don’t love a whole lot of big changes. So this year proved to be a bit more challenging than years past.

Moving has never been a walk in the park for me. This move wasn’t as bad as some in the past…I didn’t completely lose it :) But I felt totally overwhelmed most days during the last 3 months of 2011. I wanted to give my family as much of my undivided attention (don’t know if I managed that too well…but they seem happy and well adjusted so maybe it’s ok!) and I wanted to give our growing business and clients all of the attention they deserved, all in the midst of a move and a mini remodel.

So after getting through the last few whirlwind months, I’ve made my goal for 2012 to streamline. Which for me means get organized (again), have more downtime with friends and family, make our home more functional, give my family (and myself) a bit more structure and more of a routine, and have Living Solutions function and run as smoothly and as best it can, all the while enjoying life’s little and big moments. And in attempting to gain control of this goal, I’ll be documenting my progress along the way!
