I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Mine was spent “showering” one of my dear friends with a baby shower for the twins (a boy and a girl!) that she is expecting. Can I just say, I love hosting a party. It starts off a bit stressful…and this go around, the stress was a bit elevated because we’ve only been in our new home for a month and a half. I had to get all the boxes unpacked and put away (or at least upstairs and into the garage…shhhh-don’t tell), and there were quite a bit of asthetic changes I wanted to make with our existing furniture for our downstairs family room that I “needed” to get done. I’ll save more on that for a later post.
The expectant mama-to-be chose the orange and green color scheme: super cute, fun and youthful, but it didn’t scream “BABY SHOWER!” The invite had two babies in a pea pod together and it said
“Two peas in a pod, two bundles of joy. One is a girl and the other’s a boy!”
I was out and about at Target one day (surprise, surprise)….Off an a real quick tangent…If any of you are Target-aholics, then you MUST sign up for their credit card or debit card. You get 5% off every single purchase when using it. I signed up a few weeks ago for their debit card, It comes right out of my checking account like it normally would, but with a 5% discount off of the grand total. With the card, you can also sign up to have a portion of your purchases go to the local school of your choice. Total win win for everyone.
Ok. So back to the party details. I found these adorable napkins and plates at Target and low and behold, they were on clearance! Love seeing that red sticker. I liked that these were fun and whimsical, but again, didn’t scream baby shower.
For decorations, I tried my hand at yarn balls that I mentioned in this post.
They are adorable and totally easy to make.
These are the supplies you need:
- Yarn
- A couple different sizes of styrafoam balls
- Pins to hold the yarn into place.
Then just start by pinning one end of the yarn into place and wrap! You can pin along the way or just wait until the very end.
This is how they ended up in the tall glass jar I bought on this shopping trip. Don’t they look cute? I think they’d be a fun decoration addition to different holidays throughout the year.
Here were the decorations we used for the tables…
rock candy; clementines and limes; green, orange and white taffy and the yarn balls
I made cute little banners out of orange, green and white scrapbook paper tied together by ribbon. You should have seen Jason and me when I started making this banner. I should say that I was TERRIBLE at geometry, but my hubby did a good job. He folded and folded and folded the paper to try and get the proper triangle. Finally he just said “Google it.” It was as easy as just measuring the triangle you wanted, making a template and cutting away! I added white card stock to the back of the scrapbook paper to make it a bit more hearty.
This cake was delish! A friend of the mama-to-be made this adorable, yummy cake!
And I didn’t get a close up of the flower’s on the tables, but one of the other ladies that helped host the shower (the twins’ grandma), put together these beautiful flower arrangements that we had on each of the tables.
So pretty, right?!
I think everyone had a great time, adorable gifts were given, and it was such a fun day celebrating!
