Happy Friday! It’s been a long, busy, kind of difficult week and I’m looking forward to the weekend to say the least! Today I am back with my last post on binders of the month ;) On Wednesday I shared our Kiddo Binder and today I’m sharing a quick post on what is in our Family/Household Binder and my Home Project/Inspiration Binder.
There are so many great ideas and printables out there if you want to set up your own efficient Household Binder. You can also look through your files/piles of paper that are always around {or is it just me who has those?!?} and make your own binder divided into those categories that are personal to you and your household.
Here’s what I have in ours…
- Business cards: In the beginning of the binder, I have plastic pages specifically for business cards that hold important business cards we want to keep.
- School Info: One for Elementary and one for Preschool and they include the handouts from teachers at the beginning of the school year, school calendars, School policies, etc.
- Activities: Kid’s activities and info, mainly if I have signed them up for camps way before they start, this is where I keep the records and info for those activities.
- Family Field Trip Ideas: Fun ideas for family day trips and activities.
- Vacation Ideas: Wish this tab got used more often :(
- Restaurants to Try
Below is a list of dividers that I have in my binder but I have never had anything in them! HA! So I will be tweaking ours, but at least this can give you some ideas of things that may be beneficial to keep in a Family/Household Binder.
- Babysitting Info: I should type up some of the info on a sheet and have them printed out so when a babysitter is coming over, especially a newer one, I can have this info handy.
- Auto Maintenance Log: Never have used this, and I can probably do away with this one. Clearly restaurants and dreaming about vacations are more important in this household!
- Cleaning Checklist: Yup, never added to this one either…And that may be a clear fact to some visitors ;)
- Home Maintenance: Haven’t kept this one either, although maybe I should! Things like chimney sweep info, septic tank maintenance, carpet cleaning, etc. would be useful to keep track of to know when you are due for service.
All this stuff could also just be put in files in a file cabinet. And maybe I’ll think about doing that in the future, but I don’t have a ton of file cabinet space, so for now it works for me like this.
As for our Home Project Binder, as much as I love Pinterest, I also love looking through magazines and if I find something I love, I want to keep it for future reference. When we first moved into our house 4 + years ago, I set up a binder with dividers for each space of our home and have since filed info and pictures under each section over the years. Things like the measurements for our window seat cushion, ideas for our backyard, our paint colors throughout our home, etc. I used it a ton when we first moved into our home 4 years ago and now I refer back to it when I’m working on a specific project.
I do think the idea of a binder for the home is a better one than file folders because you can flip through the pages and see it all instead of it being a stacked folder of papers. It makes it much more efficient having it divided into categories but all in one spot.
So that’s a quick snapshot of my Family/Household Binder and my Home Project/Inspiration Binder!

I hope you all have a great weekend! I hope to get more accomplished on organizing my daughter’s closet! After moving her big girl bed into her room, her little dresser had to go into her closet so that has made a mess of everything else!
