Last week I was able to finish up a couple little projects that were lingering for some time. This empty frame had been hanging on our wall for at least 6 months! Why does that happen? And I’m writing that like it happens to everyone!
Yes??? Maybe?!?!
My idea for this empty frame long ago was to add some chicken wire to the back and use small clips or clothespins for photographs that could be changed out for different occasions, like photos of a family member who’s birthday month it was, or pictures of my kids in past Halloween costumes at Halloween time. I purchased the empty frame at Michael’s quite awhile back and then had it hung on our wall in our downstairs hall the last time our picture hangers were here. {You can read about why I use picture hanger people here.} So we’ve had an empty black frame hanging on our wall for a long time!
I had a few extra minutes one early afternoon last week, so I ran into the hardware store to see if they had some chicken wire or something similar to use for the back of this frame. It was actually sold in rolls and I chose the shortest length with a larger wire square. I also got some metal cutters to use to cut the wire down.
I didn’t photograph the staple gun I used, but I just used light weight staples for this project.
I measured the back of the opening, and added a square or two to the width and trimmed the roll of metal down to the size I needed. I held it in place and stapled every couple of inches until it was all flat and stapled down.
It was even easier than I thought and only took about 30 minutes at most from start to finish. So glad to have that little, but lingering project checked off my list! And I love that I get to look at cute photos every time I walk down the hall!
