I hope everyone had a great weekend! We got back from a week in the bay area and have been playing some catch up around here. I planned on writing a different post today, but got side tracked with some de-cluttering and organizing.
On my quest to accomplish giving away 40 bags in 40 days, I was trying to get back on track today going through more of our stuff. I’ll give you an update later this week…I’m not ahead of schedule, but I think I’ve got it in me to finish out strong! Anyways, I started going through our guest room closet, and decided to tackle a few left over crates that I had just put in there when we moved in to this house. I knew there was some miscellaneous china that I had collected over the years, but I had no idea what I’d find!
In high school, I started collecting miss-matched china. I don’t know why I did this. I just loved china and was excited for the day when I could have dinner parties of my own with all different china place settings. I thought instead of picking one china pattern, I could collect all different kinds that I loved. As you can probably figure out, I haven’t had any dinner parties with this miss-matched china, since it’s been in garages and guest room closets for the past 12 years.
So I thought there would be some of this china in this crate. I had forgotten about most of the pieces in here!
And I found these two little cuties! This cute bunny ended up on my mantle for spring!
And I remember this cute dog from my childhood. But I don’t remember who gave it to me or when I got it. Not sure where I’ll put this little guy, but I’m sure he’ll find a home.
Only 3 things were broken in this crate that I’ve been lugging around for 12+ years.
Two pieces were a set. It was such an beautiful and unique set, I’m sad that it broke :(.
My boys had already been napping an hour before I decided to dive into this project, not knowing how long they’d last. Turns out, I got through the entire crate and put them away by the time they woke up! I kept taking pictures and emailing them to my mom asking her if she remembered this or that. And how cute all these little espresso cups are! I need to have a tea party to use all these adorable tea cups! And maybe a girl. My boys will definitely not appreciate these when they get older :).
So even if you’re not on board with 40 bags in 40 days, go through something that has been “hiding” away. You never know just what you might find!
