I think I’m going to stop saying “I’m back to writing!” Or “I’ll be adding more posts soon!” because life happens and I then feel like I have failed on my word of writing on here more often. For the 2 people that are reading {hi to my mom and mother-in-law}. So if you want to see what I’m doing on a regular basis, find me on Instagram at livingsolutionsid!
I posted this picture a few weeks ago on IG and thought this little corner is a great example of our home. And of my design style.
Custom meets ready-made. Investments vs. inexpensive details. Items available to everyone and details that tell our personal story.
This little corner of our master bedroom has all of that. An Ikea Ektorp chair in Blekinge White-{we actually have a total of 3 of these in our house}, two off the shelf Pottery Barn pillows {one I received as a gift and one that I made more personal with our monogram that you can read about here}, a cozy blanket from an anniversary trip, custom drapery with fairly inexpensive fabric and a banding detail, an Ethan Allen lamp from the days when I worked there and the precious hand prints of my babies at 1 month hanging on our wall.
High and low, custom and ready-made.
HomeGoods glass vases on a custom made mantle/fireplace surround. There is still a HUGE blank wall above that fireplace. I found this world map from Grandin Road that we both love so this may be eventually making it’s way to that wall.
Not everything has to be Ikea or HomeGoods. And not everything has to be custom and expensive to be nice. It’s the mix that will be most interesting, keep your home from looking like you just purchased the entire “room” off of the Ikea showroom floor, not break your budget and last for years. And don’t forget to add those personal touches that tell your own personal story in your home.
