I’m excited to finally be sharing some projects with you! This one has been done for while now and I love how it turned out.
This sweet, young family wanted an updated, bright and modern space to hang out together. This is their main living area and it wasn’t working really well with their lifestyle and being able to entertain more than just their family. It felt pretty dark as well, so it was time to lighten it up!
They wanted to keep their oak throughout and not have to go through changing everything out. So many homes here in the Midwest have yellow {or orange} oak throughout the home, and to change it out requires quite a bit of an investment. So for this project, the goal was to make it feel modern, updated, bright and airy, and work with the existing oak in the kitchen and the trim.
Here are a few BEFORES:
The plan was to add more seating, change out the flooring from carpet and tile and hardwood to one single flooring, add an area rug, add window treatments and get some new furniture and accessories.
And now for some AFTERS:
The client also wanted to update their kitchen without redoing cabinets or counters. Some new lighting and an added backsplash take this hardworking kitchen up a notch.
