Hope you all had a great weekend and you’re week is off to a good start! Today I’m sharing a quick post of the last of our updates in our San Diego home. Well, maybe there will be some more of this house that will show up on this blog from time to time, but there is a lot to share with you in our new home, so today it’s a quick post of our master bath.
Our master bath needed a bit of refreshing. About half of it was updated and good and the other half was from the 70’s. So recently we redid the shower, painted everything, added molding, new hardware, lighting and new faucets. Just an overall update.
We saved quite a bit of money not redoing the entire bathroom, but man, it was still an investment! We kept the cabinets, countertops, flooring and bathtub.
I found this mirror at HomeGoods. I have had great luck finding mirrors at HomeGoods for bathrooms! You may have to go back a few times, but 3 of the 4 bathroom mirrors in this house were found at HomeGoods. All for $80 or less :)
The faucets, lighting and towel bars, etc. all are Moen.

Here is the new shower, minus the shower door, which was on order when I took these pictures. I wanted the wall between the shower and the tub {on the right above that tile with the small square marble tiles} opened up to a pony wall and to add glass that continued with the door. We tried to open up the entire wall but there was plumbing there, so we kept it closed up. I had it tiled up to the ceiling, and it felt so much more luxurious than it had before! I found the oversized subway tiles for the walls and the marble mosaic tile for the flooring at Home Depot and saved quite a bit of money going through Home Depot instead of a specialty tile shop. We needed to order some of the trim tile through Dal Tile, but overall I saved quite a bit of money going through Home Depot. That square drain was one the tile guy insisted on and I’ll have to use that in future projects. It has a little “key” that opens it up and you can clean out the trap when needed.
Nothing like a fresh coat of paint, some molding, and new hardware to dress up and refresh cabinets.
In our last two houses, we’ve redone the bathrooms and then moved shortly after :( I wanted our master bath to be one of our first projects in our new home, but it looks like I’ll have to wait a bit to remodel that space! In the meantime, I’ll be planning and scheming and dreaming of a new, clean, refreshed bathroom retreat :)
