Awhile back, I received a beautiful mirror from one of my parent’s friends. They offered and I gladly accepted. I have scoured my pictures to see if I could find what it looked like before I painted it, but I can’t find it. I decided to use it in our entry way {we moved the mirror that was there into baby girl’s nursery-which I swear, I’ll get around to finishing before she’s 5}. I knew I wanted to paint it because it was a wood finish and it would hang over a wood chest of drawers. I had initially thought of doing some kind of metallic finish, but decided to go with a solid green after seeing a few painted mirrors in Traditional Home magazine and Coastal Living.
While visiting, my dad tackled this little project because I was beyond pregnant and wasn’t up for inhaling all the fumes and bending over to do the actual painting! We actually used a combo of krylon indoor/outdoor spray paint colors.
We started by priming it with their spray primer and then as you can see, added a coat or two of Emerald Green. It was pretty green!!!
Then we added a few coats of Italian Olive. The first few coats of Emerald Green probably didn’t make a difference, but the final product turned out to be a nice, more muted green.
After looking through the Krylon website, I see the color that I would have chosen if it had been available at the hardware store:
Have you painted any furniture lately?!? Or do you prefer the natural wood finish?
Have a great Friday!
