Happy Friday! I’m so glad it’s almost the weekend around here. We’ve got some fun planned this weekend and hopefully some downtime, too!
It’s Friday Favorites time and I thought I’d share some of my favorite design books as well as the LONG list of books that are on my wish list! I love books. I would have a whole room lined with bookshelves if I could. We often walk around our house thinking where we could add a wall or two of built-ins to house our ever growing collection of books.
I also love to accessorize with books. Books are always an easy, colorful way to add your personality and interests into a room. If you get some great sized coffee table books, they can fill up a coffee table or console table perfectly. I always tell clients to head to the Barne’s and Noble “Bargin Books” section to find some inexpensive, beautiful books for their home. Usually they are very well priced and you can get some unique and beautiful books!
I love Lauren Liess’ blog and Instagram feed.
Habitat: The Field Guide
I also love that this is called Habitat: The Field Guide because it reminds me of my oldest son. We were recently reading a wonderful book, How to Behave and Why, and he goes “It’s like a field guide for being good!” Yes! I love it! We have many of the National Audubon Society Field Guides for North American animals which is very interesting to my boys. This would be my version! It comes out soon and I can’t wait to order it.
There has been a lot of talk about Eddie Ross’ new book on social media, and it’s definitely going on my wish list. This would make a beautiful coffee table book but it also has so many inspiring ideas inside!

Look at these pages! Doesn’t this want to make you invite some people over?!?!
I’ve read the Young House Love blog on and off for years. These books are on my wish list, too.

I have this book and I’m almost through it and I’m loving it. It’s a great read on finding your own style and being ok with where you are and what you have in your home.

I’ve always loved their style. I have had this book for years and love going back to it and looking through the simple design style and colors.

I don’t design as many French Country spaces these days, but I so appreciate the beauty and details that are signature for this look. A few years back, I designed a whole house in the French Country design aesthetic {I should share some of those sometime} and I bought this for inspiration and I loved pouring through the pages. Charles Faudree recently passed away, but he’s known as being the French Country designer.

I also love Melissa’s blog and Instagram feed. So beautiful! These are both on my wish list!

I love Sarah Richardson! She’s an amazing designer and I loved her show Sarah’s Cottage and Sarah’s House.
I would love to get this book of hers.
At Home Sarah Style by Sarah Richardson
I have this one and I love the pop of color of the cover and spine! I was expecting a more relaxed design vibe and the pages inside are a bit more formal, but it’s still great inspiration!
And I love Lara Spencer! I want this books for the colors of the cover alone!
Flea Market Fabulous by Lara Spencer
I just started reading this book and although it is more of an organizing book, it’s a great way of thinking. I haven’t gotten that far into it, but I know she wants you to ask yourself on every item if it “Sparks Joy” within you… {which seems overkill and then when you think about it, really should you probably shouldn’t have “stuff” in your house that you don’t even care about picking up and actually handling to see if it “Sparks Joy?”} Have you read this book? Have you started implementing the plan of actually going through all the items?
The Life-Changing Magic of Tiding Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing
All of these books would be great decor for your coffee table or your bookshelves, and even better design inspiration. I love how others’ ideas spark a design idea of mine, whether it’s just like the one I read about or something completely different with my own spin, it always offers inspiration and ideas! These could also make wonderful gifts! I always love getting special books as a gift that I may not have purchased on my own.
Happy reading! Have a great weekend!
