Hi all! Happy Friday!
Well…I did get to spring cleaning our house!!! However, I only accomplished about half the house when we all got sick. We all got hit with an icky stomach bug last week, and it had us down for the count! It was the one and only sickness I got this winter, but it wasn’t any fun. I have to say, just getting our kitchen completely cleaned, inside and out, has made me a happy girl! So I’ll be back to finishing the rest of the house as soon as I can find some more dedicated time to cleaning, sorting, organizing, etc.

As I promised a couple of weeks ago now, I thought I’d put together some helpful spring cleaning links if you are looking to get down and dirty!
Cleaning Resources:
You can find a ton of ideas and tips for cleaning at A Bowl Full of Lemons, here, under her CLEAN tab. I’ve found some very useful tips on her site. There is also some ideas specifically for Spring Cleaning tips found here.
In fact, she may even have a series right now on spring cleaning in a week.

I found a very thorough spring cleaning checklist with some obvious and not so obvious tasks to complete. In fact, the entire I Dream of Clean website is pretty terrific. I just stumbled on it via Pinterest recently and there are many practical, easy ideas for cleaning and keeping a home.
And of course, once you get your home clean, you may need some practical ideas on how to keep it organized and clear of clutter. A few of my favorite organizing sites…i heart organizing and the sunny side up blog have a ton of inspiration and tutorials.
A few cleaning tips:
- Make sure to have all the supplies you’ll need to get cleaning on hand.
- Clean each room from top to bottom.
- Clean and organize as you go: Throw out trash, expired items, etc. and set up a bag or box for donating all unwanted, but usable items.
- As with organizing, clean one whole room at a time: You’ll feel more accomplished completing one whole room then doing a little bit here and there.
- Enlist help! A housekeeper, a friend or a family member can help you clean, or watch your kids for a dedicated amount of time to knock out a good chunk of uninterrupted cleaning.
- Fix little things and big things around the house as you go: Replace dead batteries, touch up walls with paint, repair broken stair spindles that your children use as swords {yup, all three of these suggestions are real life examples.}
- Make a cleaning schedule to follow even if just loosely to stay on track and focused.
- Go through your home as if you were about to put it on the market to sell: A tip I read once from memories on clover lane, that I think is very useful to keep in mind when doing a big cleaning/spruce up.
- Schedule a party!!! Nothing like guests to make us kick up our game on the home front!
Hopefully I’ll be able to squeeze in some more time to finish this big job before it’s time to start all over again!
