It’s All About The Small Victories

November 22, 2011 By Living Solutions Interior Design

Does anyone else feel like their head might just spin off with all that is going on in life?!?!?!
I finally feel a bit more settled this week, but life is just so busy right now! The design business is keeping me super busy (which I love), all my boys (hubby and doggy included) are keeping me super busy, the house is keeping me super busy, getting ready for a quick trip up to the bay area this past weekend (and I mean super quick…like drive up Friday, go to the Navy vs. SJSU football game and hang with family Saturday and then drive back down on Sunday super quick) kept me super busy, and getting ready for company has been keeping me super busy!!! I wish I was getting more done around here. I feel like we have so many unfinished projects around the house and it was really getting to me. Actually, it kind of still is getting to me, but I’m trying really hard to just focus on the “small victories,” as my dad calls them, that I’ve accomplished in the past week.
I finally hung some art in the boys’ room.
The top picture is from a trip to Nantucket that we took about 5 1/2 years ago and the one below is a needlepoint my mom made. It’s of a yellow lab at the beach. It looks just like our loveable lab! I hung a few other pieces up on another wall, but I have another quick little project to finish up to make it complete.
I finished about 80% of the guest room and got window treatments hung and new bedding for the cold nights around here. I hope to finish a bit more before our next round of guests come!!!
(There’s my Nonna’s chair in the corner.)
I also got some new lamps for the room at Target. I hope to finish the room with some artwork that I bought at Ikea a years ago and make some artwork from an old calendar that has beautiful pictures I found a long time ago.
I thought I would have had our master bedroom painted by now and all complete, but I haven’t even brushed one stroke on the wall since right before our fireplace went up!
It’s all about the small victories, right?
I’m excited to have all our company here for this week. I’m trying to let the fact go that I don’t have everything just as I want it and focus on making memories and enjoying our family and friends.
Here’s to Small Victories!!!!
