We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Everyone is napping around here so I thought I’d do a quick post to wrap up some Christmas cheer.
I made Pretzel Hugs for preschool teacher gifts. I got the idea from my absolute favorite blog, The Sunny SIde Up blog. Erin, the author of the Sunny Side Up, had posted about these yummy treats last year and I thought I’d give them a try.
Who knew that Hershey’s Hugs were so popular this time of year. I had to go to 3 different grocery stores/drug stores to find all the ingredients. I also found some Hershey Candy Cane Kisses that I thought would be good and festive, so I grabbed some of those too.
What you’ll need:
- Hershey’s Hugs or Candy Cane Kisses
- Holiday M&Ms
- Waffle Pretzels or Snaps
Preheat your oven to 200 degrees, and place the hugs on the pretzels and stick them in the oven for about 7 minutes, just long enough for the Hug or Kiss to melt. Then stick a green and a red m&m on there and let them cool. I put ours in the fridge, but I think next time I make these I’ll leave them out and let them set up for a longer period of time. Some of them got so cold that the Kiss/Hug separated from the pretzel. Too bad because those just had to stay behind at our house. I couldn’t send those out :)
This is how I packaged them…I got these cute little glass Christmas tree jar at The Container Store, tied a cute ribbon and added a tag. I realized as I was loading everything into the car that morning to deliver them, I didn’t take a picture of the final product! So here it is…on the passenger seat of my car.
They were a huge hit in our house!
And here are a few pictures of my mom’s Christmas decor. I mentioned our family’s hand needle-pointed stockings in this post, and here they are ready for Santa Claus.
This one is the newest addition to the collection.
One of the quilted heart ornaments of my mom’s collection. They all have the year the quilt was made and a little story behind it. This particular one was from a quilt made in 1930.
Silver Raggedy Ann and Andy ornaments, part of another collection! My aunt gave me a silver ornament every Christmas until I turned 21. I told my mom that I was hoping to get them back for next year’s Christmas…We’ll see if she hands them over!!!
We have some exciting things to write about, projects to document and a new series or two to introduce in 2012! Come back next Tuesday when we start a series of Tuesday’s Tips posts on making your home your own if you are renting.
Jill and I hope you all have a relaxing last week of 2011!!!
